Types of Cooking Classes
Hands-On Cooking Classes.
Elegant Eating offers hands-on cooking classes
covering a wide range of cuisines and cooking
styles. In our hands-on classes, you are doing the
cooking! With the keen guidance of experienced
instructors and assistants, you'll usually prepare a
three or four course meal (see specific cooking
class details). Then everyone sits down to eat!
Experienced wait staff will serve you the dinner you
prepared, and best of all Elegant Eating does the
kitchen clean up.
Menus focus on easy-to-find ingredients and
time-saving steps. Minimum class size for most
classes is 16. Participants leave the class with a
rewarding evening and all recipes from the class.
You can expect to spend at least three and a half
hours at each class.

Demo Cooking Classes.
Our demo cooking classes involve… learning the tips,
tools and techniques of our chefs, and specific
techniques involved in preparing the recipes
presented that evening. Most classes end with a full
meal including dessert. Cold beverages, tea and
coffee are included.

Kids Cooking Classes.
Occasionally we run programs for younger children
(when accompanied by an adult), tweens and teens
cooking classes are offered with special
kid-friendly menus and cooking techniques. Class
length, topics and cost vary.

Policies
Clothing.
We suggest that you dress casually and comfortably.
In our hands-on cooking classes, for safety and
hygiene reasons, we ask that you wear long pants, a
shirt with sleeves, and comfortable, closed-toe
shoes. If you have long hair, please be prepared to
tie it back. A name tag and apron will be provided
for your use during your class.

Important Notice.
Participation in cooking classes may involve use of
cooking equipment and cooking tools, and potential
food allergens in a busy kitchen environment with
other people. You will be asked to sign a statement
including a liability release and photography waiver
when you arrive for class. A parent or legal
guardian signature is required for all minors under
the age of 18. We love to take photos of happy
people in cooking classes. Class photos are the
exclusive property of Elegant Eating. If you do not
want us to include you in any photos, please let us
know before class.

Class Return, Exchange & Cancellation Policy.
In order to keep our classes comfortable and to
preserve our staff to student ratio, we must impose a
cancellation policy. We appreciate your cooperation
and understanding.
When you purchase a spot in one of our cooking
classes, it is not refundable except if the class is
canceled by Elegant Eating. You have up to 5 days before the class to
withdraw and receive credit that
must be applied to a new class within ninety (90)
days. Cancellations must be made over the telephone. If you cancel within the
5 day window or
miss the class, no refund or credit will be given,
but you can have the class handout which includes
the recipes. (If you reserved the class with a gift
certificate and do not cancel within the 5 day
window, the price of the class will be deducted from
the value of your certificate.)
If you are unable to attend class, you may send
someone in your place, but you need to notify us of the
change prior to the class. We reserve the right to
cancel or reschedule classes if necessary. If we do
cancel or reschedule the cooking class, you may
choose a refund or keep a credit on account for a
future class. If you need to cancel, please call us
at (631) 360-2211 as early as possible.

Cooking Class
FAQ's
Why should I take a cooking class at Elegant Eating
?
Our cooking classes are great opportunities to learn
new cooking skills, creative recipes (that are easy
to duplicate) and presentation techniques. Spur your
creativity, meet new people, eat delicious food,
have fun, and so much more at Elegant Eating cooking
classes.
top
Do I get to cook or just watch ?
In our hands-on cooking classes, the participants do
the cooking. In our demo cooking classes, the
participants learn by watching. Each class
description specifies if the class is a hands-on
cooking class or a demo cooking class.
top
When should I arrive ?
Please arrive 15 minutes before the class, so that
you have time to sign in, wash your hands and put on
an apron before the class starts. Your instructor
will go over the menu, explain each dish, comment on
the ingredients you'll be using and answer any
questions that you might have.
top
How do I learn new cooking techniques ?
Our instructors demonstrate the best techniques and
guide you (literally by hand if you want) on how to
maximize both the food and kitchen tools available
to prepare the meals.
All of our classes are designed to be user-friendly
for any level of skill, from basic (trouble boiling
water?) to professional chef. You should never feel
intimidated in working with your fellow students.
top
What if someone in my party has limited abilities
or allergies ?
Our kitchen is wheelchair-accessible with few
restrictions. Within reason, we try to accommodate
all types of food allergies. Our kitchen is not
kosher. Please contact us if you have specific
concerns.
top
What safety rules do I need to follow ?
Great question! Safety predominates, so we ask that
you wear closed-toe shoes, remove dangling jewelry,
tie back long hair and cooperate with the instructor
on all safety issues. Common courtesy with other
students, instructors and staff is a given.

Suppose I can't attend a class for which I've
registered ?
If you cancel prior to 5 days (or 120 hours) before a cooking
class, you can transfer your registration to another
class within 90 days. If you cancel within 120 hours
of a cooking class, feel free to have someone attend
in your place. You can always receive the recipes
and other handouts from the class even if you don't
attend. Please see our
Cancellation Policy for more details. If we
cancel a class, you can choose a refund or transfer
your registration fee to a new class.
